
Senior Advisor of Housing

Senior Advisor of Housing
will lead the coordination of Metro Nashville policy and resource allocation to advance Nashville’s Unified Housing Strategy. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role will work closely with senior public officials and private partners to build a housing ecosystem that meets Nashvillians needs.
Mayoral staff (non-civil service) receive 15 days of Paid Time Off and 12 sick days annually.
This role is pivotal in advancing housing strategies by aligning Metro departments, building strategic partnerships, leading cross-sector collaboration, and removing barriers that will lead to evidence-based, community-informed programs to work toward the goal all residents having access to safe, affordable, and stable housing across Nashville.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and experience running a housing initiative or program for a comparable city.
Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Qualifications
Master’s degree with significant experience advancing housing strategies and collaborative partnerships.
Proven track record of successfully advocating for housing funding and tracking performance related to funding.
Significant experience delivering results in housing at the local government level.
Reputation for establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with partners.
Robust communication skills (written, verbal, and inter‑personal).
Proven knowledge of evidence‑based practices related to housing policy.
Strong understanding of Nashville’s real estate market, development finance, and market dynamics.
Proven track record of coordinating multiple stakeholders toward a shared goal.
Knowledge of national policy landscape with a preference for candidates that have worked at the national level.
Proven track record of significant and successful fundraising efforts.
Reputation for accountability and a standard of excellence.
Experience advocating for the city’s goal related to housing publicly with external stakeholders, the public, and media.
Proven track record of innovation and creativity balanced with a record of completion, delivery and results.
