DIRECTOR OF AGRONOMY AT MIZNER COUNTRY CLUB Mizner Country Club is seeking a Director of Agronomy (DOA) who successfully manages warm‑season grasses at the highest level. The DOA will be a strong, culture‑oriented, communicative, detail‑focused team leader with a passion for the game of golf and for providing consistent, premier golfing conditions.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the golf course maintenance team to ensure superb golfing conditions throughout the season.
Communicate openly and transparently with the General Manager, CFO/AGM, Director of Golf, and Green Chair on course conditions, plans, and events.
Implement and oversee agronomic programs, including fertilization, irrigation, drainage, and water management.
Develop and execute annual operating budgets and contribute to long‑term capital and agronomic planning.
Oversee construction, renovation, and long‑range course improvement projects.
Maintain accurate records for maintenance, regulatory compliance, and personnel.
Stay current on industry trends through ongoing education and professional engagement.
Evaluate course conditions—particularly greens—and develop action plans for the summer maintenance program and bunker renovation.
Lead, train, and develop the grounds team; oversee performance management and professional development.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience as a golf course superintendent or equivalent.
Experience overseeing all golf course grounds, including turf, landscaping, trees, shrubs, and plant materials.
Proven track record in managing maintenance, repair, and inventory of all course equipment.
Ability to develop and execute annual operating budgets and contribute to long‑term capital and agronomic planning.
Knowledge of agronomic programs such as fertilization, irrigation, drainage, and water management.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety, chemical use, storage, and environmental regulations.
Strong communication skills with golf professionals, club leadership, and committees on course conditions and events.
Leadership experience in training and developing grounds teams and overseeing performance management.
Experience in overseeing construction, renovation, and long‑range course improvement projects.
Commitment to ongoing education and professional engagement.
Education and Certification
Degree in turf management or a related field (required).
Turf or agronomy certification (preferred).
