Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries

General Description Community United Methodist Church seeks a passionate, servant-hearted leader to sustain and grow our ministries with children, youth, and families. This full-time position will guide the church’s Christian formation programs for children (birth–5th grade), youth (6th–12th grade), and families, working closely with the pastor and dedicated servant leaders, as well as collaborating and partnering with local faith communities and our United Methodist Conference to cultivate a vibrant, welcoming faith community.

What You’ll Do

Lead and coordinate ministries for children, youth, and families

Recruit, equip, and support teams of servant leaders

Foster safe, trusting, and supportive relationships that honor each child, adolescent, and caregiver’s experiences

Plan and oversee Sunday School, Children’s Church, youth gatherings, retreats, confirmation, and family events

Select engaging, inclusive faith curriculum honoring diverse developmental needs and identities

Develop outreach opportunities such as Vacation Bible School, mission experiences, and seasonal events

Encourage participation from new and existing families

Ensure Safe Sanctuary policies are followed

Implement and maintain organizational systems for supply storage and shared digital documents

Collaborate with church leadership and staff on vision, worship celebrations, long-term planning, and annual budgeting

Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the faith curriculum, refine, and improve

What We’re Looking For

A committed Christian with a heart for the spiritual formation of young people and families

A strong relational leader and organizer who works well with volunteers

Familiarity with the United Methodist Church and a Wesleyan theology of grace

3-5 years of teaching or ministry experience with children or youth, including paid or unpaid experience in a church context, is preferred. (Extensive unpaid servant leadership in the church may, in some cases, be substituted for paid teaching or ministry experience.)

A degree in teaching, child or youth development, ministry, or related disciplines is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $55k-$65k

403(b) with matching after one year
