Portfolio Analytics Associate
Oliver James, Boston, MA, United States
A growing private credit investment firm is looking to add a
Portfolio Analytics Associate
to its data and reporting team. This position sits at the intersection of
portfolio analytics, fund reporting, and business intelligence , supporting decision‑making across the investment team, investor relations, and operations.
This is a highly analytical role focused on understanding and validating investment and fund‑level performance data rather than being a pure engineering position. The ideal profile is someone who is strong in
Python, SQL, and reporting workflows , but equally strong in questioning outputs, identifying anomalies, and ensuring the numbers tell an accurate story.
What You’ll Do
Own portfolio reporting and analytics across investment, IR, and operations
Build, maintain, and improve Python / SQL based reporting workflows and dashboards
Validate outputs and investigate anomalies across key fund metrics including
IRR, MOIC, and NAV
Partner with the investment team to understand new deals, portfolio performance, and reporting needs
Support
fund reporting , including how portfolio data flows into LP / investor reporting
Build data models, dashboards, and repeatable workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
Perform ad hoc analysis tied to portfolio performance and operational decision‑making
Fund / Investment Exposure This role supports reporting across the firm's
private credit fund , meaning the person will work with metrics tied to the performance of the investment fund itself, including portfolio returns, valuation metrics, investor reporting outputs, and overall fund performance analytics.
Must Have
2+ years in portfolio analytics, financial reporting, business intelligence, or data‑heavy analytical roles
Strong Python and SQL with experience working across large datasets
Exposure to
fund reporting concepts , including IRR, MOIC, NAV, investor reporting, or portfolio valuation
Experience within private credit, private equity, asset management, or financial services is highly preferred
Strong attention to detail and strong analytical intuition
BI / dashboarding experience with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Streamlit, or similar tools is a plus
