Overview
The Index Engineering team is responsible for prototyping, building, and launching indices across various asset classes. This role encompasses the full lifecycle of index development and interfaces with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure successful product delivery. The team collaborates with a global group of financial engineers for continuous learning and professional growth. Responsibilities And Impact
Index Engineering is a global team responsible for developing and launching indices at S&P Dow Jones Indices. This role includes the full lifecycle of index development and requires strong analytical, creative, and detail-oriented capabilities. Develop calculation prototypes and test cases for new indices. Perform test calculations and reconcile results with clients. Analyze, develop, and implement indices onto a strategic Python-based platform. Create and review index methodologies. Understand industry standards and regulations; provide compliance guidance to clients. Support operations in launching, ongoing delivery, and overall quality of service. Each index built and launched contributes to SPDJI’s mission, market strategy, and revenue goals. Innovative solutions expand capabilities to serve investment communities with speed and quality. What We’re Looking For
Basic Required Qualifications: A master’s degree in math, finance or other related quantitative discipline. Knowledge of fixed income and other asset classes, including equities, FX, and commodities. Knowledge of index construction processes and methodologies, including back-testing and optimization. Experience with an asset management context is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced skills in Excel; proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction. High attention to detail and commitment to project quality. Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities for non-routine challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate with clients and colleagues globally. 6–8+ years of professional experience in indices or a similar role. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Strength in quantitative analysis including optimization. Advanced technical ability with Python. Other Requirements
