Job Summary The Mechanical Estimator will manage mechanical estimates for large‑scale projects, fabrication and maintenance opportunities.
Core Responsibilities
Perform piping estimates to support the onsite fabrication shop and capital projects.
Support maintenance operations with various IW, PF and BM estimates.
Interact with vendors to solicit competitive material and subcontractor pricing.
Compose and present estimates to leadership demonstrating complete and competitive proposals.
Coordinate with field management on constructability and schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receive, organize and coordinate opportunities.
Review bid documents for completeness, engage with clients on gaps, and address risks.
Attend bid meetings/site walkthroughs to verify scope documents.
Set‑up the estimate, schedule, responsibility matrix, and coordinate with teams.
Ensure pricing is accurate and reflects current labor, material, and equipment costs.
Discuss value engineering, alternates or option pricing with leadership.
Identify key project positions and resource availability with leadership.
Lead internal estimate review meetings.
Prepare bid documents for client submittal.
Verify adherence to safety, ethics, compliance, and QA/QC requirements.
Prepare bid and proposal documents including clarifications and exclusions.
Submit bids and budgets by deadlines.
Mentor and assist team members’ career development.
Perform additional assignments as directed.
Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent construction‑related field.
Minimum 2 years of estimating experience or 5 + years of applicable experience in the mechanical construction industry.
Skills and Abilities
Conceptual ability to work with minimal information and quickly grasp owner/architect requirements.
Familiarity with operating procedures of Field Operations, Central Engineering, Procurement, Accounting, and other departments.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Experience with HCSS or similar estimating software preferred.
Complete knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to lead multiple estimates simultaneously with proven time‑management and deadline compliance.
Strong work ethic and commitment to high‑quality task completion.
Effective interface and communication with others.
