Job Summary The Sales Manager develops and implements plans to achieve sales of the company’s products and services within the road construction business market segment, ensuring consistent profitable growth and meeting corporate sales objectives.
Main Responsibilities
Identify and develop new client business within the road construction market by pursuing opportunities with strategic targets, key clients, and cultivating relationships with existing clients.
Perform sales activities on major accounts and manage an assigned geographic sales area to maximize revenues.
Identify and evaluate new markets and partnership opportunities through prospecting, networking, and industry association participation.
Represent the company’s mission, vision, values, code of ethics, and policies internally and externally.
Develop sales strategies to improve market share across all product lines and interpret the impact of sales strategies on operating profit growth.
Mentor the sales team in establishing contact and rapport with top decision‑makers and provide training on new account sales, multi‑product selling, profitability, presentation strategies, and expense management.
Oversee the entire sales process for the road construction market, from opportunity assessment to final project close, coordinating resources, forecasting revenue, and establishing policies and procedures.
Provide expertise in bid package management, market evaluation, financial assessment, and customer‑specific marketing needs throughout proposal preparation.
Negotiate sales price and discounts on major accounts in coordination with field operational teams and partner with marketing to create effective marketing strategies.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline.
Minimum 7 years of substantial business experience in business development, sales management, and/or account management, with 3‑5 years of proven success in selling and developing new business generating $5 million to over $100 million in revenue.
Experience leading complex sales processes involving multiple team members and decision makers.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills that foster lasting business relationships.
Collaborative leadership ability to respond quickly to changing situations.
Capability to coach, mentor, and lead a diverse staff to deliver best‑in‑class services.
Demonstrated business acumen, organizational, planning, time‑management, and written/in‑person communication skills.
Experience building strategic marketing programs and selling them to local, state, and federal road preservation officials.
