What You’ll Do The Senior Credit Underwriter evaluates credit applications, analyzes financial data, approves transactions within authority limits, and recommends creditworthiness. Responsibilities include spreading financial statements, evaluating financial trends and ratios, and preparing credit memorandums to support decisions within desired timeframes. This role mitigates risks associated with credit transactions by ensuring loans and leases are properly structured and comply with credit policy and regulatory requirements. The Senior Credit Underwriter also mentors junior staff and collaborates with various departments to facilitate smooth operations, protecting the organization’s financial interests while maintaining positive client relationships.
Job Duties
Review large‑ticket credit applications (> $750,000) and supporting documents.
Spread financial statements and tax returns, analyze financial trends and ratios, and prepare credit memorandums.
Determine creditworthiness based on financial metrics, credit reports, and due diligence.
Calculate loan/lease payments accurately.
Work with Documentation/Closing and Counsel to review documentation.
Serve as backup to Credit Manager and mentor Credit Analysts.
Interact directly with customers and discuss financial/operational trends.
Collaborate with other departments and maintain a customer‑focused mentality.
Complete assigned projects or duties from Credit Manager or Executive Manager within expected timeframes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
7+ years of experience in commercial credit underwriting or similar roles.
Formal credit training is preferred.
BA/BS required with concentrations in accounting or finance.
Ability to understand and negotiate legal contract verbiage.
Experience in transportation lending/leasing preferred.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
Detail‑oriented with multitasking abilities.
Self‑starter capable of working with little supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce.
Experience with Vision Leasing Software is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation
$125,000–$175,000 annual salary + bonus eligibility
