Customer Business Manager The Customer Business Manager position owns all components of selling, business planning, forecasting, and trade spending within the assigned customer/portfolio of brands for Bayer Consumer Health. The incumbent is directly responsible for maximizing the four sales controllables: assortment, pricing, promotion, and shelving. The CBM is responsible for developing and executing the annual business plan within assigned customer/portfolio of brands. These plans should focus on accomplishing quarterly/annual sales volume with effective and efficient trade execution as well as delivering against long-term strategic partnership objectives. They are directly accountable for delivering seamless in‑market execution via monthly forecasting, productive trade promotions, and meeting daily demands of the customer, while managing their trade spending to the allocated budget.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for achieving Bayer volume and KPI objectives through successful sell‑in and execution of sales controllables;

Owns key sales processes & deliverables within assigned customer/portfolio of brands;

Leads and executes business‑planning sessions by engaging a cross‑functional team, as appropriate, customer marketing, field sales, sales strategy, marketing, finance, sales ops and e‑commerce;

Leads and executes all selling presentations within assigned customer/portfolio of brands, engaging cross‑functional teams, as necessary. Penetrates all levels across the retailer network (VP/Director/CatMgr/Logistics/IT/Merchandising/Retail/Warehouse/Finance/Administrative/Pharmacy/Buyer/Assistants) within the customer organization to cultivate relationships for customer building;

Executes monthly forecasting to ensure Bayer meets/exceeds all customer supply metrics. Forecasting includes baseline business, new item pipeline and turn volume, and promotional inventory needs;

Manages trade budget and deduction resolution to stay within budgets/estimates (trade budget managed to 1‑2% of bottom‑line total). Use appropriate tools/programs to meet all compliance and audit requirements;

Audits and evaluates retail execution to identify opportunities and operational challenges. Provides directions to third‑party vendors to optimize retail execution, customer planning, or category management, if applicable;

Integrates and analyzes multiple data sources to create selling key tasks: strategies and programs that deliver win‑win outcomes through innovation and collaboration with the account team;

Collaborates with customer marketing team to develop customer specific shopper marketing and promotional programs in alignment with brand strategies and demographics with a focus on improving distribution, merchandising, pricing, and shelving;

Develops new item sales plans, strategies and tactics in order to achieve headquarters and retail objectives. Ensure timely and accurate data analysis for distribution build, promotion evaluation, execution, planning, and development of assigned customer;

Aligns customer specific marketing strategies and tactics that result in actionable sales plans with other area businesses to ensure business alignment with national priorities and sales objectives;

Maintains ongoing retail awareness and competitive in‑market activity through frequent contact and trips covering each customer in major markets nationally;

Effectively manages the development, allocations and residual inventory of all display or customized promotional selling units for the assigned customers;

Represents “voice of the customer” within Bayer to drive profitable results and increase awareness to critical customer issues.

WHO YOU ARE Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications

Knowledge equivalent to BS/BA degree;

Leadership skills: Results driven while being able to work well within a matrixed team environment (building strong relationships and showing organizational agility);

Able to identify and deliver on external customer and internal partner needs. Track record of delivering results versus plan;

Financial acumen: Robust financial management skills to assess promotion effectiveness and continual improvement on ROIs;

Industry expertise: In‑depth knowledge of individual retailers and overall marketplace;

Communication skills: Strong communication skills, able to deliver clear and concise presentations, actionable directions. Demonstrate critical thinking skills through multi‑task problem solving, practical judgement and financial analysis; highly organized;

Negotiation skills: Experience with one‑on‑one customer negotiations. Assists with developing win‑win solutions to complex situations, proven problem‑solving skills;

Technical skills: Strong analytical capabilities across a variety of data sources and platforms; Functional/technical skills to execute sales planning jobs; advanced computer literacy skills required, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint;

Ability to travel as necessary or required.

Preferred Qualifications

8 years of progressive sales experience in the consumer package goods industry, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience;

Sales strategy or sales operations experience preferred.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $116,880 – $175,320. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
