Overview

Skilled Trade Specialist III – Plumber, Office of Facilities Maintenance, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall Airport). Employees are essential, subject to 24‑hour emergency call‑back procedures, and may work rotating shifts. Responsibilities

Inspect, approve, and supervise the work of outside plumbing contractors and non‑licensed in‑house plumbing staff. Carry out the full range of plumbing installation and repair work, including performing the same work as the crew. Ensure continuous operation of facilities by adhering to emergency call‑back and shift schedules. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Four years’ experience as a plumber and a Journey‑level or higher plumber license issued by the Maryland State Board of Plumbing. Experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for required education or a vocational‑technical plumbing certificate. License & Certifications

Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license (list license number and expiration date). During probation, may be required to obtain and maintain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must obtain an Airfield Operators Permit in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 11.03.01.04. May be required to complete agency training and certification programs for permanent status. Licensed plumber option must possess and maintain a journey or higher plumbing license for permanent status. Additional Requirements

Extensive pre‑employment security background check (FAA, Part 107). Willingness and availability for duty at any hour, day or night, including weekends and holidays; must maintain a reliable communication link for emergency call‑back. Ability to perform maintenance on high structures and in confined spaces. Potential exposure to hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead‑based paint or chromium; may require medical testing and hazardous materials training. Subject to pre‑employment and ongoing substance abuse drug testing as per Transportation Code of Maryland, Regulation 11.02.11. Benefits
