The starting pay range for this position per hour is $24.00 - $26.00. The full pay range for this position per hour is $24.00 - $40.80. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and, in some instances, education, work experience and certifications.

Assets Protection at Target Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep guests, team members and the Target brand secure and to lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guests. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target, including store leaders and public safety officials, including law enforcement.

Using surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure while aiding in the reduction of shortage
Using Target's video surveillance system to monitor guests and identify potential theft risks
Implementing Target's Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage
Properly and effectively documenting cases
Identifying strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehension
Typical responsibilities
Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments: greet guests, assist with finding items, resolve issues, and end transactions with a sincere thank you
Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver a smooth guest experience
Support total store sales, guest service and increase profitability by ensuring product is in stock and available to guests by preventing and resolving theft
Resolve theft by using good judgment and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas following AP policies
Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting and surveillance tactics
Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues
Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity
Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation following AP policy and procedures
Promote a physical security and safety culture by creating awareness and training safe standards
Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful
Work in a safe manner; comply with safety policies and training; report hazards
Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement
Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests

Required skills and prerequisites
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members
Ability to communicate on multiple devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed
Effective communication skills; ability to work independently and with a team
Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently; stay focused in a fast-paced environment
Physical and scheduling basics
Climb ladders; scan, handle and move merchandise safely; may lift up to 40 pounds
Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays); adhere to scheduled shifts and breaks
Work in varying temperatures and conditions as required
Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift
