Overview
The starting pay range for this position per hour is $24.00 - $26.00. The full pay range for this position per hour is $24.00 - $40.80. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and, in some instances, education, work experience and certifications.

All About Assets Protection Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep our guests, team and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guest. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target, including store leaders and public safety officials, inclusive of law enforcement.
Role Overview At Target, we believe in team members having meaningful experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career. The role of an Assets Protection Specialist can provide you with the skills and experience of:
Using surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure while aiding in the reduction of shortage
Using Target's video surveillance system to monitor guests and identify potential theft risks
Implementing Target's Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage
Properly and effectively documenting cases
Identifying strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehension
Responsibilities
Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:
Greet guests (10ft: be friendly – smile, eye contact; 4ft: greet, smile, and initiate a warm, helpful interaction)
Help guests find what they need and resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience
End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude
Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
Support total store sales, guest service and increase profitability by ensuring product is in stock and available to our guests by preventing and resolving theft
Resolve theft by using good judgement and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas while adhering to AP policies
Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting and surveillance tactics
Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues
Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity
Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation following AP policy and procedures
Promote a physical security and safety culture by creating awareness and training safe standards
Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful
Work in a safe manner; comply with safety policies and training; report hazards and correct where possible
Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement
Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests
All other duties based on business needs

Required Skills and Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Meet state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements

Ability to communicate on multiple devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed
Effective communication skills
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
Additional Basics
Climb ladders
Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy
Scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds
Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays); comply with scheduled shifts and breaks
Work in varying temperatures and conditions while performing duties
Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift
