
Interior Designer - Entry to Mid Level (Maryland)

Job Summary
The National Security Agency (NSA) is seeking experienced Interior Designers to provide facilities design expertise, guidance, and support in developing and implementing commercial solutions that align with mission-driven priorities. Designers will shape the look and feel of facilities at NSA headquarters and across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
Conduct facilities planning and space programming.
Develop furniture layouts, specifications, design packages, cost estimates, and project schedules.
Design new and renovated commercial facilities.
Provide construction detailing and code analysis.
Perform project management tasks.
Select architectural, interior design, and furniture materials and finishes.
Conduct multidisciplinary project reviews and teaming.
Qualifications Minimum education and experience:
Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field (preferably CIDA-accredited).
Required coursework includes drafting, architectural drawing and rendering, CAD, intro to interior design, architectural lighting or environmental controls, building construction and methods, construction documents, design and the built environment, history of architecture, history of furniture, sustainable design, design and visual culture, visual form, Photoshop for interiors, graphic presentation, construction materials and finishes, interior design business practices, and life safety codes for interiors.
Three or more of the following experience areas: facilities, space planning, design, construction documentation, applying codes and standards, and drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit).
Full Performance level requires project management experience in facilities; certifications such as LEED, PMP, or NCIDQ can provide credit of one to two years of experience.
Entry/Developmental: Associate’s degree + 2 years relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with no experience.
Full Performance: Associate’s degree + 7 years relevant experience, Bachelor’s + 5 years, or Master’s + 3 years.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary: $57,736 – $133,142 (Entry/Developmental – Full Performance), varying by location, work level, and experience. Benefits include a comprehensive package and training as needed. Work schedule is full-time, Monday–Friday, 8 hrs/day with flexible start times between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. A two-year DCIPS trial period applies unless you qualify for a one-year period as a veterans’ preference employee.
