Job Overview
Weyerhaeuser is hiring an experienced Engineered Wood Products Designer to join our Western Specification Team. The role is remote with occasional on‑site visits to distribution centers in Tennessee, Colorado, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Key Functions
Use design tools and software to deliver technical services that support the design and specification of Weyerhaeuser Structural Frame products.
Create framing layouts for floor, roof, and wall systems and perform design calculations for single structural members.
Provide design consultation to dealers, builders, general contractors, building inspectors, architects, engineers, sales associates, and owners to solve framing challenges.
Qualifications
2‑year technical degree or equivalent construction industry experience.
Ability to read and comprehend residential wood frame construction documents.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Must be willing to reside in one of our operating locations.
Desired Qualifications
Background in residential wood framing construction.
Working knowledge of CAD and/or estimating applications.
Certification in structural/architectural drafting.
Experience with engineered wood products (i‑joists, GLBs).
Previous designer or estimator experience.
Understanding of roof and floor load development.
Schedule & Location Full‑time, Day (1st), Individual Contributor. Locations: Nashville, TN; San Antonio, TX; Easton, PA; Austin, TX; Carrollton, TX; Henrico, VA; Henderson, CO; Jacksonville, FL; Houston, TX. The position requires residents in these states only.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $58,000 – $88,000, based on skills and experience. Eligible for annual merit increase and annual incentive program offering a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, pre‑tax Health Savings Account with company contribution, 401(k) with company match, paid time off (3 weeks vacation for 25+ hours/week), eleven paid holidays per year, and additional voluntary benefits.
