
Project Employee, NBA Social Content - X

WORK OPTION: Remote. This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed 10 months.
Position Summary This position is part of the NBA Social & Digital Content team which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing and publishing content to the NBA's social and digital platforms and its many domestic and international partners.

This is a project employee position. The ideal candidate is an X expert who knows the latest trends, how to create content on the platform and fully understands the publishing process.
They also understand how to speak and write about basketball, the NBA’s players and teams, statistics and history, maintaining a brand voice.
Major Responsibilities
Provide real‑time game coverage by publishing to the NBA’s X accounts (including @NBA, @NBAStats, @NBAHistory, @NBADraft, @NBAKicks)
Write copy for posts in lead‑up to games, during games and post‑game that promote top NBA moments, performances, and storylines, and point fans to where they can watch games
Manage player narratives and storylines for all 30 teams across the league each night
Work closely with the content creation team nightly to identify, create and publish short‑form content optimized for X
Manage additional platform features, such as creating X Moments and assisting with X Spaces
Assist with publishing and tracking content in the X Amplify monetization program
Assist with maintaining X Lists including NBA’s players, teams and media members
Assist with daily and nightly content planning for each of the NBA’s X accounts
Assist with publishing content to additional NBA social platforms when needed
Required Skills / Knowledge
Expert understanding of X and its hashtag #NBAX
Expert understanding of the NBA, its storylines, players, coaches, teams, statistics, standings, and history
Regularly consumes NBA basketball content daily and nightly
Excellent grasp of basketball stats, rules and history
Strong editorial background in basketball, culture, and extensions of the game
Understanding of the NBA’s social voice
Experience publishing to X for a sports brand or media organization
Knowledge of X data and metrics to inform decisions
Expertise on the NBA’s season calendar of events
Experience publishing to other social platforms
Ability to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks with detail orientation
Ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment while handling critical tasks promptly
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Great communication skills and ability to execute detailed feedback
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays per the NBA calendar
Team player who collaborates effectively
