Executive Director of Health Affairs Publishing
Location: United States (Washington, DC area) | FLSA: Exempt
Position Summary Health Affairs Publishing publishes groundbreaking, nonpartisan research and analysis to improve healthcare. We seek an executive director to provide strategic and operational leadership, overseeing the organization’s programs and staff, and developing and implementing a revenue plan within the tax‑exempt context.

Essential Skills And Experience
Seven or more years of senior management experience, preferably with nonprofit organizations.
Ten or more years of management experience leading strong and successful teams.
Experience managing multi‑million‑dollar organizations in healthcare or related sectors such as communications, policymaking, publishing, or research.
Expertise in publishing and communications.
Established network with funders and donors, foundations, national agencies, and corporate philanthropies in the healthcare sector.
Successful fundraising and development experience, plus strong public relations, marketing, and fundraising skills.
Knowledge of nonprofit leadership and management principles.
Proven success working with a board of directors.
Entrepreneurial mindset with an innovative business‑planning approach.
Passion for the mission of Health Affairs Publishing and Project HOPE, and strong integrity and cultural sensitivity.
Graduate degree preferred. Fields of study include business administration, nonprofit management, publishing, social sciences, health policy, public health, medicine, journalism, and law.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
Executive‑level role focused on external relations, with some national and potential international travel; primarily office‑based in the U.S.
Compensation And Notice Salary starts at $231,000 for qualified candidates. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, 403(b), paid leave, and additional comprehensive benefits. Compensation is highly competitive and depends on qualifications, experience, and skills.
