Senior Content Strategist

Accenture, Washington, District of Columbia, United States

We’re seeking a

Senior Content Strategist

who will take the lead in shaping the future of a federal client’s website by developing and executing a robust content strategy for digital products. You’ll use your deep knowledge of human‑centered design (research, conceptual design, prototyping, testing) in collaboration with content writers, product designers, researchers, product managers and engineers to develop a clear, audience‑focused content roadmap that aims to guide users smoothly through our products while adhering to our mission goals, policy standards, and user needs.

The work:

Your initial responsibility will be to conduct a comprehensive audit and analysis of the content and experience of existing federal products, focusing on their architecture, structure, content, and taxonomy.

You will identify areas for improvement and create a detailed plan for refreshing digital products, ensuring they align with both user needs and organizational objectives.

Your role will also involve gathering requirements, facilitating client discussions, and conducting content reviews to drive the success of programmatic improvements.

In this position, you will leverage your expertise in SEO, GEO, AEO, and user experience to inform your strategy and recommendations. You will support user testing efforts, using insights gained to validate proposed changes and enhance the overall user journey.

Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with interaction and service designers, providing guidance on content strategy while supporting the implementation of visual and structural updates.

Familiarity with website maintenance and governance principles, as well as experience in defining long‑term strategies for content management, will be highly beneficial in ensuring the ongoing success and sustainability of the site.

Here’s what you need:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related field; or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience as a content strategist or content marketer.

5+ years of experience crafting content for digital products or services in consulting, in‑house, or agency environments.

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a focus on creating topical authority.

Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and SEO (site structure, schema markup) combined with knowledge of how AI models retrieve information.

Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and best practices.

Ability to communicate design intent and trade‑offs clearly to diverse stakeholders, including non‑design audiences.

Bonus if you have:

Experience working with federal agencies or on public‑sector digital services.

Prior experience in client‑facing or consulting roles within regulated environments.

Prior experience in GEO, AEO and AI‑strategy to structure information for both human readability and machine readability.

Experience writing for complex, high‑traffic platforms serving diverse audiences.

Exposure to service design, journey mapping, or omni‑channel government services.

Experience supporting data‑informed design using analytics or Voice of the Customer tools.
