Job Summary The role coordinates and produces content for internal media and engages faculty, staff, and students to generate compelling ideas for articles that promote the institution across campus publications, including emails, newsletters, web pages, and social media. The position ensures all campus messages are ADA‑compliant, assists in the coordination, production, and distribution of written, audio, and video communications, and serves as the department's AP Style expert, maintaining university editorial standards.
Responsibilities
Write, edit, and produce content for internal media and community outreach.
Provide project support and backup for the internal communications manager, including strategy for planning and delivering internal messaging via mass emails and crisis communications.
Create at least two Jagwire stories and an additional brief each month.
Offer writing and editing support, mentorship, and coaching for campus communications and faculty experts, building key relationships with campus sources.
Develop and provide training modules to support campus partners and ensure consistency in messaging.
Lead communications and marketing strategy for Spring and Fall Commencement stories, Values Week, and coordinate project management for AU initiatives.
Maintain style guides, ensure ADA compliance, and perform additional assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in communications and marketing.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in writing, media relations, journalism, project management, and relationship building.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and experience with mass email systems and protocols.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Proficiency in copy editing, AP Style, and maintaining editorial standards.
Shift, Salary & Benefits Shift: Days/M-F (out‑of‑hours work may be required).
Pay Band: B7 – Salary Range: $42,200 to $50,111.36 per year (commensurate with qualifications).
Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement/Optional Retirement Plan, earned vacation, sick leave, 13 paid holidays, and Tuition Assistance Program after 6 months.
