Director, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting | Fintech | Pre-IPO
A rapidly scaling fintech company is seeking a Director of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to build and lead a best-in-class accounting function during a critical phase of growth.
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role working closely with senior finance leadership, driving technical accounting, policy development, and financial reporting infrastructure in a fast-paced, pre-IPO environment.
Technical Accounting & Policy
Serve as the SME across complex accounting areas (ASC 718, 606, 310/326, 842, 740, 805)
Lead development and implementation of accounting policies and technical memos
Partner cross-functionally to evaluate and structure new transactions
Support month-end close for technical accounting areas
Own audited financial statements, footnotes, and reporting packages
Manage external audit process and reporting calendar
Build and enhance reporting processes, timelines, and accuracy
Design and implement internal controls in preparation for SOX compliance
Partner on ERP and systems infrastructure to support scale
What They’re Looking For:
CPA preferred
10+ years of experience across Big 4 and industry
Strong background in technical accounting, SEC reporting, and SOX
Experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated environments preferred
Proven ability to build processes and functions from the ground up
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting topics
