IMEG is hiring a Civil Designer in Burlington, MA, to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants to deliver engineering solutions and advice that drive positive client outcomes. In this role, you’ll support engineering analysis and design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design while continuing to learn and grow in the civil engineering profession. You’ll also collaborate with cross‑functional teams and work within project budgets to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
Prepare designs for water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systems
Prepare grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans
Support surface modeling, watershed modeling, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design using engineering software
Interact with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build and maintain strong client relationships
Support consulting project execution as part of a project team, including assisting with project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress
Analyze low to moderate complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure work meets IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance; interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to specific project needs while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required
Minimum one year of experience in the building design consulting industry required
Engineer in Training (EIT) license preferred
Proficient skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible
Developing proficiency of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
Ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing to individuals or groups
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Support projects serving municipalities as well as private‑sector site development needs (e.g., site plans and subdivisions)

Salary Range $71,000 – $94,000. Salary may vary based on location and experience.
