Classroom Intervention Specialist | Paraprofessional
Location: Abraxas Academy, 1000 Academy Dr., Morgantown, PA 19543
Salary: $22.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Shift: Monday – Friday, Days
Responsibilities
Perform one‑on‑one or small group instruction in math or reading with residents.
Participate with and supervise clients in daily programmatic activities.
Maintain an active caseload of 12–15 juvenile clients needing extra reading or math support.
Follow policies and procedures of the program/facility.
Provide leadership and serve as a role model to clients in academic activities.
Ensure physical safety and care of clients who are under supervision.
Report significant changes in behavior, attitude, or physical condition of clients to higher‑level staff.
Interact with educational and clinical staff to ensure overall treatment and educational goals are accomplished.
Participate in conferences regarding client behavior and academic progress.
Comply with program/facility safety systems and building security.
Adhere to departmental policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promote the Seven Key Principles of care.
Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.
Qualifications
Must pass a drug test and both federal and state background checks.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with no experience, OR
Minimum of sixty (60) college credits from a regionally accredited college and at least one (1) year of experience working with youths.
At least twenty‑one (21) years of age.
Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
Background check screens for drug‑related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
