HCI Oracle Database Administrator

Overview The ideal candidate will have a strong Oracle background to support core database administration focused on Oracle databases. He/she should be able to lead customer calls and provide design level support to customers in scope, sharing domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members. He/she is required to manage Oracle Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems, and to configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Responsibilities

Provide L3+ support for core database administration focused on Oracle databases.

Deliver Oracle DBA services to the customer.

Interact with clients over calls and provide details and reasoning of the deliverables.

Lead customer calls and provide design level support to the client.

Manage Oracle Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.

Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.

Provide escalated technical support for complex technical issues, including leading problem management cases and providing management status.

Independent analysis, solution, and real-time problem resolution end-to-end.

Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.

Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

Provide on-call support for critical production systems.

Perform scheduled maintenance and support release of deployment activities after hours.

Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

Experience with enterprise administrative scripting using a major scripting language and experience with software deployment.

Knowledge of network architecture and protocols.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

7+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in enterprise-scale environments.

Strong experience with Oracle 12c/19c, Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and RMAN.

Proven track record of migrating databases across data centers and/or cloud platforms.

Proficiency in scripting and automation using Shell, PL/SQL, and experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work across technical and business teams.

Experience in automating DB tasks, health checks, space management, and maintenance tasks.

Documentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, etc.).

Experience in implementing operational automation.

Be available for on-call support as needed.

Multi-customer work experience and managed service format.

Nice to have

Experience in PowerShell scripting automation is a plus.

Azure data fundamentals related to certification and/or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Expert (OCM) preferred.
