
Ocean Export Coordinator

LHH is partnering with a highly respected organization in Roswell, GA to identify an
Export Coordinator
to support global shipping operations. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of international and domestic transportation, ensuring export orders move efficiently from U.S. plants to overseas customers. The Export Coordinator will oversee shipment execution, documentation, compliance, tracking, and invoicing while serving as a key point of contact across logistics, customer service, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end export shipment activities, including drayage coordination, carrier bookings, documentation preparation, and international tracking.
Book U.S. export orders with ocean carriers via EDI or email, ensuring orders are entered accurately and on time.
Maintain and update international booking details within the ERP system, managing frequent changes and shipment adjustments.
Prepare and submit SEDs (Shipper's Export Declarations) and Bill of Lading (B/L) instructions to ensure regulatory compliance.
Partner with Credit, Banking, and Customer Service teams to process Letters of Credit (LCs), including bank drafts and B/L consignment.
Compile and distribute all required shipping documents, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Ocean Bills of Lading, to international customers.
Coordinate closely with Customer Service, Logistics, Shipping, and Production teams to manage load schedule changes, rolled bookings, and rebookings.
Audit ocean freight invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance prior to submission to Accounts Payable.
Create, maintain, and update SOPs and customer profiles, including routing preferences, carrier selection, service requirements, and key contacts.
Track and maintain monthly KPIs to evaluate carrier performance and internal order accuracy, driving continuous improvement.
Investigate and resolve freight discrepancies, AP issues, and operational challenges for domestic and international shipments.
Research and reconcile purchasing invoice discrepancies within the ERP system, including international and customs-related transactions.
Serve as the primary escalation point for transportation issues such as carrier delays, missed pickups, detention, demurrage, and customs holds.
Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, customs requirements, and proper Incoterms usage.
Support timely customs clearance and documentation accuracy to minimize delays and optimize global logistics performance.
Assist Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, and internal teams with pricing support and logistical guidance as needed.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of
2 years of export/logistics experience
with a freight forwarder, manufacturer, or logistics provider.
Strong understanding of
international trade regulations , customs requirements, and global shipping lanes.
In-depth knowledge of transportation logistics, including domestic and international shipping, ocean freight, and customs procedures.
Hands-on experience working with ocean carriers, including booking, scheduling, and drayage coordination.
