Tax Associate - Real Estate Investment Firm in Boston (Hybrid)
Our client, a well-established real estate investment firm with a strong national presence and a diverse portfolio, is looking to add a Tax Associate to their growing team. The role offers solid exposure to tax compliance, REITs, partnerships, and corporate structures, with the chance to work closely with senior leadership on some pretty interesting, complex work.
You'd gain hands-on REIT and partnership tax experience while working across a large, diversified real estate platform. You’ll play a key role in an exciting new value-add fund launch, with exposure to both compliance and strategic consulting work.
Hybrid schedule:
3 days in office (Mon/Tues/Thurs)
at the Boston HQ Comp structure: Base salary + bonus
Responsibilities: Calculate taxable income and tax basis for all entities (including joint venture partnerships, corporations, REITs and Fund) Review federal and state tax returns for all entities Prepare quarterly and annual REIT compliance testing Calculate extension and quarterly estimated tax payments Calculate E&P for all corporate entities Coordinate delivery of finalized trial balances, schedules and calculations to third party tax preparers Review property activity to identify potential REIT compliance issues Prepare annual 1099-DIV for corporate distributions Review and reconcile depreciation schedules; maintain depreciation software Research relevant tax laws, regulations and rulings to determine applicability to the portfolio and proper tax treatment, including filing requirements Respond to inquiries from the IRS, other tax authorities and joint venture partners Coordinate distribution of final deliverables to tax authorities, joint venture partners and internal departments for Fund investors Assist in calculation and review of annual tax provision for corporate entities, including tax footnotes and disclosures
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 4+ years of tax experience in partnerships and REITs CPA preferred $100K - $120K base salary dependent on experience
