OPTICAL RETAIL SALES TECHNICIAN Job Summary:
Are you a strong customer service professional looking for an opportunity to get into high‑end optical retail? If so, we want to hear from you! A career as an Optical Technician is an exciting opportunity to learn on the job in an industry that combines the love of retail and medical devices. Detail oriented, able to multi‑task and customer service skills are a must!
Essential Job Functions
Listen and address needs of patients as evidenced by company standards and policies.
Answer the phones, and communicate patient’s needs to the Opticians and Technicians.
Efficiently take orders for contact lenses, create contact lens encounters and order lenses from ABB or another supplier.
Navigate insurance websites to assist patients with the available benefits and costs associated with their plan.
Sell and create encounters for accessories.
Learn the lensometer.
Oversee Frame Inventory.
Ability to interpret spectacle prescriptions.
Knowledge of the latest technology in lens designs.
Skilled in frame adjustments and repairs.
Explanation and application of vision insurance benefits.
Use of computer order entry and verification of eyewear order accuracy for quality control.
Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Ability to multi‑task, work in a fast‑paced environment and manage time accordingly to meet deadlines and requirements of the organization.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full‑time position based in Bradenton, Florida - University Park.
Full‑time position with days and hours Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm. Saturdays 8am -12:30pm.
Travel to other locations as necessary.
Education and Experience
A high school graduate or equivalent (required)
Excellent communication and listening skills to properly address patient needs (required)
Customer Service or service‑related experience is a plus (required)
ABO Certification or Licensed in state outside FL. (required)
