Aquatics Director- Camp Harbor, St. James

Camp Harbor is looking for an Aquatics Director. We are seeking an experienced, organized, and safety-focused Aquatics Director to lead and manage all aspects of our summer day camp pool operations. This is a leadership level role, and the candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, fun, and well-supervised aquatic environment for campers and staff. The Aquatics Director will oversee daily pool operations, including the lifeguard staff, swim instruction, and all water safety programs. Strong communication with camp leadership is essential for success in this role.

• Location: Camp Harbor, St James NY
• Dates: June 15th- August 14th
• Schedule: Hours Flexible for first 2 weeks, Weekdays (June 29th-Aug 14th) 8:00a.m -4:00 p.m
• Experience: 21 and older 3 years lifeguarding
• Pay: Salary Seasonal summer position ($7,000.00 - $8,500.00) commensurate with experience

Requirements/Essential Job Role

• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) – pool chemical balancing and maintenance
• Lifeguard Management/Leadership certification
• Current Lifeguarding certification
• Progressive Swim Instructor certification
• CPR & First Aid certification
• Experience supervising staff and working with children preferredStrong leadership, organization, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily pool operations to ensure a safe aquatic environment
• Manage and maintain proper pool chemical levels and water quality
• Supervise, schedule, and support lifeguards and aquatic staff
• Lead and coordinate swim lessons and aquatic programming
• Enforce all safety procedures, emergency action plans, and camp policies
• Maintain required records, logs, and compliance documentation
• Collaborate with the previous Aquatics Director (available for consultation) to ensure smooth operations and continuity
