EXTRA DUTY POSITION - COLOR GUARD DIRECTOR
- Salary Range: Level 5 - $3,450--$4,164 (depending on experience and placement)
- Sub Certificate/60 hours minimum requirement

POSITION SUMMARY
To instruct students in individual or team sports and sport techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for all elements of running the Color Guard program both during marching band and the winter indoor season.
- Duties/responsibilities are based on the needs of each individual ensemble/organization. Responsibilities could include any and/or all of the following:
Rehearsal skills, performance skills, (both individual and group), show design, technology, ability to communicate well with others, and recruitment/retention of color guard members.
- Plans programs to promote development of student's physical attributes and social skills.
- Teaches individual and team sports to students, utilizing knowledge of sports techniques and physical capabilities of students.
- Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating and lecturing on sports topics.
- Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations governing sports and the use of exercise equipment.
- Observes students during practice to detect and correct mistakes.
- Explains score-keeping methods.
- Organizes and conducts competition and tournaments.
- Purchases, displays, maintains and repairs equipment.
- Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
- Recognizes students encountering medical, physical and/or psychological problems and refers them to district specialists for assistance as required.
MARGINAL DUTIES
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, mentor programs and teacher training workshops.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Contributes to the decisions made by the District and building regarding budget, facilities, curriculum and personnel well-being.
- Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year College or University - preferred
- Missouri State Teaching Certificate – preferred
- Minimum 60 credit hours and Missouri Substitute Certificate
