Position Summary This position ensures compliance with safety and food quality standards, monitors and removes defective shell eggs, and operates the breaking machine for inedible egg product to support production of high‑quality liquid egg products.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assumes personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. Follows all safety policies and procedures and incorporates safety and health into all tasks.
Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
Rotates between two stations:
Candler: Removes damaged or defective shell eggs according to USDA specifications.
Breaking Machine Operator: Removes inedible egg product by flipping a lever to divert inedible egg to a holding tank.
Determines whether product meets proper specifications and takes corrective action when necessary.
Follows safe work practices, adheres to GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintains sanitary conditions, and supports SQF Quality Certification. Reports any conditions that may negatively affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
Maintains a positive work atmosphere by communicating and interacting effectively with customers, clients, co‑workers, and management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
No prior experience or training is required.
Ability to read a limited number of two‑ and three‑syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide using tens and hundreds. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and measurements of weight, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out instructions given orally and to handle problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
