Job Title: Gymnastics Camp Assistant Counselor Pay Grade: 1 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt - Seasonal Pay Range: 12.57 - 18.85 USD an hour Reports to: Gymnastics Coordinator Revision Date: 3.10.2026 Position Summary
Supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s impact. This position assists in the supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp setting with a focus on gymnastics. Provides positive engagement with youth in a safe, nurturing environment. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. Exemplifies the Y’s four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries promptly. Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to carry out the YMCA mission and goals. Assists with supervision and instruction to gymnastics participants following the YMCA best practices, policies, and procedures. Assists with planning and setting up lesson plans and structure of camp with Camp Lead and Gymnastics Coordinator. Follows all YMCA emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary and reports all problems, complaints, or concerns of participants to the Gymnastics Coordinator promptly. Participates in staff meetings, trainings, events, reviews, and other scheduled events. Sets up class equipment, ensures proper use, and maintains housekeeping in the gymnastics area, bleachers, cubbies, and program closet. Maintains attendance records in an orderly and efficient manner. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct. Projects a positive, enthusiastic, and professional image on the job. Keeps to schedule; punctual and dependable. Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration. Qualifications
Minimum age of 15 Fundamental knowledge of gymnastics skills 1–2 years of experience working with children is preferred Effective verbal and written communication skills CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training completed prior to camp start date Completed health form prior to start date (if required) Compensation details:
