Untiedt's Vegetable Farm, Waverly, MN, United States

Minneapolis Farmers Market Farm Representative for Untiedt's Vegetable Farm

Location: Waverly, MN (Dispatch) & Minneapolis, MN (Market) Season: May – October | Full Time or Part Time availability, read for more information. About Untiedt’s Vegetable Farm

For over 50 years, Untiedt’s has been a staple of Minnesota agriculture. We don't just sell produce; we share the fruits of our labor with our community. As our Minneapolis Farmers Market Manager, you aren't just a supervisor—you are the face of our farm, an educator, and a leader of the busiest outdoor retail experience in the Twin Cities. The Role: Why It Matters

We are seeking a high-energy, community-minded leader to drive our retail and wholesale operations at the Minneapolis Farmers Market. You will bridge the gap between our fields in Waverly and the tables of our customers, ensuring that every visitor leaves not just with the freshest produce, but with a deeper connection to where their food comes from. Join Our Team:

We have two paths available depending on your schedule and proximity to the farm based in Waverly, MN: Full-Time (Wednesday – Sunday): This role requires a daily commute to the farm to load your truck with sellable items for the day. You will be an integral part of our core operations during all five days of market activity. Part-Time (Weekends Only): Perfect for those looking for supplemental work. This role is strictly for Saturday and Sunday shifts, 6am-2pm. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Operations & Merchandising

Daily Market Flow: Lead the "opening and closing" of our market presence, ensuring high-impact visual merchandising that draws customers in. Quality Excellence: Act as the final gatekeeper for freshness. Implement FIFO (First-In, First-Out) standards to ensure premium quality and zero waste. Logistics & Inventory: Coordinate daily with our Warehouse Manager to forecast demand, track inventory, and ensure "Special Orders" are fulfilled with 100% accuracy. Sales Leadership & Growth

The Customer Experience: Educate the public on seasonal varieties, cooking tips, and sustainable growing practices. Revenue Management: Oversee POS operations, manage daily cash deposits, and reconcile sales reports with precision. Business Development: Actively grow our wholesale footprint by building relationships with local chefs and restaurateurs through proactive outreach. Team Culture & Management

Talent Development: Partner with the Retail Operations Manager to recruit, hire, and train a high-performing seasonal team. Smart Scheduling: Utilize Connecteam to manage staffing levels, ensuring we are always ready for the weekend rush. Leadership: Foster an encouraging, educational, and high-tempo work environment where staff feel valued and informed. What You Bring to the Table

Experience: 1-2 years in retail management, grocery, or hospitality. Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments is a plus. Self-Motivation & Autonomy: You are a disciplined self-starter who excels when working independently. You can manage your time effectively and make sound decisions on-site without direct supervision. Communication: You are a natural "people person" who enjoys sharing the farm's story. You are comfortable with cold-calling to expand our wholesale base. Agility: You can pivot from a complex inventory issue to a customer inquiry without missing a beat. Physical Grit: You enjoy working outdoors! You must be able to lift 50+ lbs regularly and remain active for long shifts in all weather conditions. Reliability: A valid driver’s license is required to transport farm vehicles from Waverly to Minneapolis (if applying for full time position). Success Indicators

Visual Impact: A stand that looks as fresh at noon as it did at 6:00 AM. Profitability: Minimal product loss and hitting wholesale growth targets. Community: Growing a loyal "regular" customer base and maintaining a positive team culture.
