Liberty Local Schools is seeking a dedicated and skilled Intervention Specialist to support students in grades K through 6. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment and enabling each student to achieve their maximum potential through tailored interventions and support strategies. Key Responsibilities

Assessment and Identification

Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' academic and behavioral needs. Collaborate with teachers and staff to gather data and insights on student performance. Advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities within the school system and community. Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal laws. Work closely with students, parents, and educational staff to facilitate understanding and engagement in the IEP process. Regularly monitor and document student progress towards IEP goals and academic benchmarks.

Instructional Support

Provide direct instruction and intervention to students in both one-on-one and small group settings. Utilize differentiated instructional strategies and evidence-based practices to meet diverse learning needs. Communicate student progress with parents, guardians, and relevant educational staff through meetings, reports, and conferences.

Collaboration and Teamwork

Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and other specialists to create a supportive learning environment. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and adjustments needed for plans and interventions.

Behavioral Support

Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students exhibiting challenging behaviors. Provide strategies and support to promote positive behavior and social skills development. Foster an inclusive school culture that values diversity and encourages participation of all students.

Professional Development

Engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in special education and intervention strategies. Share knowledge and training with other staff members to enhance the entire school's approach to inclusive education.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Intervention Specialist, or a related field. Valid teaching certification or licensure in Special Education/Intervention Specialist (or the eligibility to obtain one). Experience working with young children, preferably in a classroom setting. Experience working with students with diverse needs, including learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, and other special needs. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Preferred Skills

Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction. Familiarity with current education technology and resources. Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students and staff for extended periods. Additional Information
