Sr. Analyst/ Associate, Capital Markets
1st Avenue Power, San Francisco, CA, United States
You will be a key driver in the execution of sophisticated capital markets transactions, focusing on the financing and valuation of utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS assets. This role is designed for a high-performing analyst who can perform "model surgery" on complex financial structures while simultaneously supporting the rigorous due diligence required for project financings and M&A activity. Your work will directly enable the deployment of capital into the renewable energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Financial Modeling:
Own and restructure project-level and portfolio-level DCF models, managing complex waterfalls and performing deep-dive sensitivity analysis on value levers.
Capital Markets Execution:
Support the structuring and closing of tax equity, debt, and cash equity transactions by maintaining precise financial exhibits and scenario outputs.
Consultant & Diligence Management:
Coordinate directly with Independent Engineers (IE), appraisal firms, and tax consultants to manage Cost Segregation and Market Value reports, ensuring all model inputs align with third-party findings.
M&A Valuation Support:
Develop valuation frameworks for potential acquisitions or divestitures, performing "bottom-up" underwriting and helping draft Investment Committee materials.
Transaction Monitoring:
Track market trends in interest rates and tax law changes to update underwriting assumptions for the firm’s development pipeline.
What We're Looking For Required:
Experience:
1–2 years of experience in project finance, capital markets, or investment banking, specifically within the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.
Technical Modeling:
Exceptional Excel skills with a proven ability to "get in the weeds" of a model to fix broken logic or integrate new structural features (e.g., HLBV or complex debt sizing).
Finance Fundamentals:
Strong command of valuation analysis, including pre- and after-tax returns, levered vs. unlevered yields, and basic project finance documentation.
Detail Orientation:
Proven ability to manage multiple data rooms and synthesize models from multiple technical consultants under tight deadlines.
Nice to Have:
Previous experience supporting M&A transactions or utility-scale project acquisitions.
Familiarity with BESS-specific revenue streams and dispatch modeling.
About the Tech Stack
Languages:
Excel/VBA for advanced financial automation.
Frameworks:
Fully Structured Financial Models, and Tax Equity Modeling.
