Overview
Under general supervision, perform all locations of gas and underground electric facilities. Perform locations for other utilities, such as telephone, water, and CATV. Locate and mark facilities in conformance with appropriate governing bodies and in accordance with the Rules of Locating set forth by supervision. Perform any other related duties including computer inputting of information, making maps or prints, and communicating with stakeholder parties.
Responsibilities Core Responsibilities
Under general supervision, perform all locations of gas and underground electric facilities. Perform locations for other utilities, such as telephone, water, and CATV. Locate and mark facilities in conformance with appropriate governing bodies and in accordance with the Rules of Locating set forth by supervision. Perform any other related duties including computer inputting of information, making maps or prints, and communicating with stakeholder parties.
Identify and respond to locations where excavators are digging without a one‑call ticket e.g. Look Out For The Markout Program
Educate the excavators on 811 and safe digging practices
Survey for pipeline markers and install or replace as necessary
Review and respond to High Risk Excavations (HREs) including, but not limited to, Transmission, 2nd, and 3rd Party excavations that require interactions and/or monitoring
Perform audits and use the necessary tools, equipment and records to perform all audits as directed by supervision
Oversee vacuum excavation work
Perform pipeline integrity inspections
Perform flagging, material handling, patrolling and act as a helper when associated with Gas and/or Underground Occupational Groups
Ensure compliance with standards, work procedures, state laws and Rules of Locating
Qualifications Required Education/Experience
High School Diploma/GED
Relevant Work Experience
Must successfully pass a predictive aptitude test Required
Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands for entire shift Required
Must stoop, bend, reach and kneel throughout the workday Required
Be licensed to operate company vehicles Required
Must be able to take company vehicle home, transport, and store and secure company laptop computers and other job related equipment in the vehicle Required
This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing as required by the Department of Transportation Required
In addition, this position requires on the job reporting. Employees will be required to report to their first field location upon the start of their shift and end the day at their last field location unless otherwise instructed. Required
