Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid/Open to Remote)

Summary The Director of Development/Fundraising will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program for DCI that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies. This position reports directly to the CEO.

Essential Functions

Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to accelerate philanthropy within the organization through individual major gifts, foundation giving, planned giving, and special events.

Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies that align with the organization’s mission and values.

Identify and cultivate financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government.

Oversee and update the organization’s case for giving statements.

Work with a grant‑writing consultant to research and prioritize available grant opportunities.

Develop and maintain a portfolio of ongoing relationships with major individual and institutional donors.

Steward donor relationships through donor recognition and follow‑up communications.

Provide support to the CEO in establishing and expanding a major gift portfolio.

Create and execute donor cultivation and stewardship opportunities.

Work closely with the Communications and Marketing team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials (annual report, website solicitation, social media outreach, and email campaigns).

Oversee Friends of DCI donor program, including special events around the World Championships.

Complete relationship mapping with DCI Board Directors, Corps Board of Directors, and Friends of DCI.

Work with Hall of Fame committee and internal staff on planning and execution of annual induction ceremony/event (find ways to incorporate fundraising initiatives into the HOF event).

Monitor and analyze performance metrics tied to organizational fundraising goals (i.e., donor engagement and retention rates) in Neon CRM.

Maintain monthly key performance indicator reports that accurately reflect caseload activity and performance.

Develop budget, in conjunction with CEO and CFO, for reaching fundraising goals.

Implement a planned giving Legacy Program and solicit new planned gift donors.

Develop and establish a Giving Circles program, utilizing it as a key tool for major donor stewardship, retention, and increasing overall support.

Create a moves‑management plan for each donor/prospect.

Senior Leadership

Strategize with senior leadership and the board of directors to set overall organizational purpose, mission, and values.

Share responsibility as designated organizational operational point person, along with other senior leadership.

Oversee Sr. Manager of Business Development (corporate sales and partnership marketing activation).

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Nonprofit Management or Related Field preferred).

7–10 years of Development experience with demonstrated ability to identify, develop and close gifts of five‑figures plus.

Systems thinker with the ability to create effective and efficient workflows.

Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.

Experience with Fundraising Software and Donor Databases.

5% travel to key DCI regional and national events.

Ability to build and maintain strict confidentiality.

Strong curiosity and excitement for new challenges.

CFRE preferred.

Preferably Indianapolis‑based but would be open to remote.

General office environment with occasional work and/or travel offsite and outdoor events.
