Assistant Director of Women's Basketball Operations
Responsible for overseeing administrative tasks for a Division I Women's Basketball program, reporting directly to the head coach and serving as primary liaison with athletic department staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent.
At least two years of full‑time experience in basketball administrative duties (team scheduling, budget preparation, facility usage, public relations, fundraising, community service, daily operations) or as a college basketball player and/or coach.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional three or more years of full‑time experience in basketball administrative duties or as a college player/coach.
Previous experience with a Division I Athletic Program.
Experience working with Financial Aid and/or Housing.
Experience supervising student staff, interns, and/or graduate assistants.
Understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules.
Responsibilities Business Operations
Manage the WBB budget, ensuring expenditures stay within guidelines and coordinating purchases and budget requests with the business office.
Coordinate all aspects of team travel, including itineraries, lodging, transportation, and meal advance disbursement and reconciliation.
Schedule and order pre‑game meals for home contests and liaise with host institutions for practice/shoot‑around times, meeting spaces, locker rooms, and meals.
Work with equipment staff on team equipment purchases, orders, and disbursements, and maintain equipment inventory.
Student‑Athlete Skill Instruction / Game Preparation
Teach basic and advanced basketball skills during individual, team, and conditioning sessions throughout the year.
Develop and implement safe, effective practice plans and assist the head coach in creating comprehensive game plans by evaluating opponents, preparing scouting reports, and analyzing game tapes.
Collaborate with the Compliance Office on official/unofficial visits, ticket requests, on‑campus visit itineraries, and recruiting activity documentation.
Maintain a recruiting database and serve as liaison for housing issues with the Sr. Associate AD/SWA.
Work with the Financial Aid Office to initiate grant‑in‑aid requests for prospective student‑athletes.
Scheduling
Schedule all practices (home and away) and secure facilities, negotiating court time and providing schedules to support staff.
Coordinate home and away competition schedules with each sport’s supervisor, including negotiating guarantee games.
Academic Success of Student‑Athletes
Track academic progress with Student‑Athlete Development staff, ensuring appropriate class and degree progression.
Update professors on absences due to travel, assist with scheduling, monitor attendance, supervise study hall, and meet with athletes regarding academic issues.
Team Managers
Identify, train, and supervise student managers, recruiting them to assist with operations during practices and away contests.
Video Management
Handle videotape needs per NCAA and conference rules, coordinating tape exchange, splicing game film, and creating player cut‑ups.
Additional Information Full‑time appointment. FLSA exempt position (minimum salary threshold met). Eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Evening and weekend work will be required at times. The position does not sponsor work visa candidates.
