Opportunity As a Data Protection & Privacy Senior Associate within EY’s Ethics, Compliance, and Risk Management (ECRM) team, you will support the Data Protection (Confidentiality, Data Privacy) function. You will help interpret data protection and privacy laws, conduct due diligence activities, and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and firm requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Compliance function of the Data Protection program, including conducting data protection due diligence reviews of business processes and data processing activities, developing procedures to operationalize compliance measures, and monitoring adherence.
Collaborate with functions such as Talent, Finance, Service Line Quality, and business teams to maintain visibility over evolving processing activities and embed data protection measures.
Create reports on data protection compliance activities for key stakeholders and senior leaders.
Assist the Data Risk Management function: document, conduct, and support investigations of data incidents; develop remediation plans and maintain an inventory of confidential and personal information.
Continuously update knowledge of the field and communicate new developments to stakeholders.
Participate in ad‑hoc Data Protection and Privacy projects as needed.

Privacy certification such as CIPP, CIPM, CDPSE, or AIGP (preferred).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; graduate degree or JD preferred.
1–4+ years related experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Solid understanding of relevant firm business and area‑wide data protection issues.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Flexibility and the ability to take the initiative.
Ability to right‑size risk.
Strong research skills.
Strong project‑management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks.
Good working knowledge of information systems and common software packages.
Preferred Experience
Experience referencing firm data protection and privacy policies and reviewing complex situations.
Expertise in global, national, and local data protection laws, regulations, and standards.
Understanding of high‑level technology trends in data protection.
Privacy certification from ISACA or the International Association of Privacy Professionals (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CDPSE, AIGP).
