Sales Engineer, Public Sector

Responsibilities

Support the technical and value aspects of the sales effort across the territory, including impactful technical presentations, architecture design discussions, competitive displacement, proof‑of‑concept engagements, RFP/RFI responses, solution demonstrations and technical workshops with customers and partners.

Assist in the smooth transition of the sales opportunity into successful delivery by Professional Services and/or Partner networks.

Research, network and ideate to become the regional "go‑to" resource for future solution opportunities, product roadmap development and thought leadership.

Present and evangelise Axon technical & business value propositions at industry events.

Develop in‑depth technical knowledge of Axon and domain expertise within the technology subject area.

Document customer feature requests and issues, providing feedback to sales and product management.

Provide support to product testing and evaluations.

Execute customer site assessments targeting technology infrastructure assessments.

Transfer industry, technical and product knowledge to customers and colleagues.

Proactively plan to prevent pre‑ and post‑sales issues to shorten time to revenue.

Qualifications

A natural and enthusiastic aptitude for technology and the ability to communicate its value using compelling stories.

Confidence to professionally drive customers to successful outcomes with Axon solutions.

A "self‑starter"—ability to identify tasks that need ownership and when to collaborate.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.

Willingness to travel significantly (70%) and some international travel.

Valid passport and clean driving license.

5+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer or similar.

Experience in Digital Video, Mobile Communications, IP Engineering, IP Security, Embedded Systems, IAM, SaaS.

Strong understanding of CCTV systems, VMS, network technologies and IP stack (e.g., Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Ocularis, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, VPN gateways, proxies).

High technical knowledge of computing infrastructure, data centers and system support.

Experience in data integration and analysis to support an expanding product portfolio.

Experience with large‑scale IaaS platforms (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, OpenStack).

Strong project management experience delivering PoCs.

Evidence of adding value as a global team member.

Experience and effectiveness working remotely and independently.

Experience implementing and managing relational database solutions, particularly Microsoft/Azure SQL.

Practical knowledge of SAN technologies (EMC, HP 3Par).

Location Canada, West (remote)

Compensation & Benefits Base Pay Range: $159,000–$194,000 CAD. Compensation consists of base pay, bonus and stock awards. Benefits include a comprehensive package to support physical, financial and emotional well‑being.
