Corporate Strategy & Planning – Strategic Consulting
The Corporate Strategy & Planning team serves as TIAA’s internal strategy function, comprising three core capabilities: strategic consulting, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning. The Strategic Consulting role provides advice and thought leadership to senior TIAA executives, including the CEO and Executive Committee. This job mirrors the responsibilities of an engagement manager at a top‑tier strategy firm, leading end‑to‑end engagement management of broad cross‑functional internal teams, conducting interviews with internal clients, forming sophisticated hypotheses, designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, synthesizing conclusions and insights into recommendations, and executing strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Leads consulting engagements end‑to‑end
including evaluation, advanced planning, analysis, solution development, and execution
Provides advanced expertise to engagement teams
in leading the identification, understanding, and framing of complex business problems and needs
Develops complex analytical frameworks and project plans
including financial models, resource allocation, and scenario analyses to support strategic recommendations
Identifies and prioritizes strategic improvement opportunities
across products and services, and creates recommendations and plans for implementation
Prepares executive‑level presentations
for the Executive Committee and Board members to garner approval for strategic recommendations
Manages performance of Corporate Strategy & Planning team
through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional products, engagement, motivation, and development of junior staff
Provides meaningful support to other Corporate Strategy & Planning teams
to ensure highly integrated team collaboration
Oversees Corporate Strategy & Planning’s operations
(e.g., knowledge management, methodology, onboarding, AI) to ensure quality, service, efficiency, and cost‑effective resource management
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Required
MBA Preferred
Work Experience
7+ Years Required; 9+ Years Preferred
Prior experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or related analytical roles strongly preferred
Physical Requirements

Required Experience
7+ years of strategic and/or corporate consulting experience, leading strategy consulting engagements
Must have independently managed end‑to‑end strategy consulting engagements for at least 2 years, ideally as an Engagement Manager, from problem structuring to work planning to final delivery
Experience developing and presenting materials to C‑suite and/or Board‑level audiences. Measurable by frequency and seniority of stakeholder interactions in prior roles.
