Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred in Human Resources, Risk Management, Insurance or related field. Five or more years of experience working in Benefits and Risk Management required and public education/sector preferred.
Goal Direct and manage district-wide employee benefits and risk management programs. Provide leadership in benefits administration, regulatory compliance and risk mitigation while delivering exceptional customer service to employees. Enhance and optimize processes and procedures for benefits and risk management.
Representative Duties & Responsibilities
Direct and oversee employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, flexible spending, supplemental benefits and retirement savings plans.
Direct and oversee risk management including liability, property, workman’s compensation, safety and loss prevention.
Coordinate new employee orientation, annual open enrollment and distribute correspondence and updates pertaining to benefits.
Ensure accurate and compliant benefits enrollment including qualifying life events.
Monitor benefits plan performance with third-party vendor and track participation.
Supervise benefits and risk management staff and coordinate with third-party vendors.
Develop communication strategies to educate employees on benefits and risk management.
Serve as an advisor to divisions and schools on benefits and compliance and collaborate to mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance for the District in regard to FLSA, ADA, Board policies, and other federal and state mandated employment laws.
Provide guidance and training for supervisors on benefits and risk management.
Manage claims processes, coordinate with insurers and third-party vendors, and implement strategies to reduce risk exposure.
Develop workplace safety initiatives with divisions and schools to ensure consistent implementation.
Coordinate employee safety training programs for all personnel as required.
Review District contracts for appropriate risk transfer language, insurance requirements and indemnification provisions.
Collaborate with third-party vendors to conduct risk assessments, analyze incident data, and recommend strategies for loss prevention.
Ensure exceptional customer service for all employee interactions and optimize processes to promote efficiency.
Utilize data to drive decision-making, forecast needs, and support the District’s strategic plan.
Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
Follow work, scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
