
Senior Equity Advisor

The Senior Equity Advisor at BMO Wealth Management – U.S. is part of an equity team that provides independent and objective investment advice and support on U.S. equities to the Portfolio Managers across the United States at BMO Wealth Management who collectively manage nearly $80 billion in AUM.
The U.S.-based team works closely with the broader investment team at U.S. Private Wealth, including investment and market strategists, and a number of analysts covering other asset classes and fulfilments (e.g., ETFs, funds, SMAs). The team may also collaborate with other equity team members across BMO Wealth Management to ensure a high level of support, guidance, and advice on equities to client-facing individuals so that client portfolios can deliver on their required outcomes.
The Senior Equity Advisor should possess or quickly develop deep knowledge of the Wealth business and its strategic priorities to align themselves and their efforts with what ultimately matters for the business, PMs, and clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Act as a primary subject matter expert on U.S. stocks by providing support, independent advice, and recommendations.
Contribute to a scalable daily service offering, including a morning note that provides support and advice to PMs on relevant large-cap U.S. stocks.
Provide coverage of the stocks on the company’s working list, including support of stocks held in the models used by PMs.
Offer stock and sector support for the primary models used by PMs.
Service PMs one on one: portfolio and model reviews, thoughts on individual stocks, sectors, and portfolio positions.
Support PMs in certain client meetings where specific sector and/or stock discussions are sought.
Generate impactful content on a frequent basis for PMs and their teams: original, thought-provoking, actionable, concise, clear, engaging, and highly relevant.
Secondary Responsibilities
Collaborate with other investment team members across U.S. Private Wealth in the broader team’s monthly asset allocation meetings and contribute to the flagship Weekly Strategy Perspectives publication.
Potential to work as part of an investment committee on the firm’s own equity model portfolios.
Qualifications
15+ years of relevant experience in equity research, sales and trading, and/or portfolio management.
Advanced understanding of the U.S. equity markets.
Exceptional communication skills – verbal and written.
Expert analytical and interpretive skills; capable of sourcing and identifying pertinent factors from large volumes of information.
Strong organizational skills; keen attention to detail and risk.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills – expert level.
Influence skills – expert level.
Ability to manage ambiguity.
Data‑driven decision making – expert level.
Combination of a self‑starter mindset with entrepreneurial growth orientation while collaborating within a team.
Experience presenting to large audiences and/or dealing with sophisticated investors.
Reasonable understanding of the Wealth Management business and/or prior experience dealing with clients and client-facing individuals.
Post‑secondary degree in a related field or CFA designation.
Salary and Compensation $132,600 – $247,000 per year, salaried. Salaries will vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. Commission may apply for part‑time or commission roles. The total compensation package may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
