Job Overview Lead administrator responsible for team leading installation, configuration, and support of all Windows and ESX servers within a large retail enterprise environment requiring 24/7 uptime.

Responsibilities

Provide technical and team leadership for engineers performing support for Windows and ESX server operations.

Build, install, and configure all Windows and ESX servers; apply patches, updates, hardware/software upgrades, and physical‑to‑virtual migrations.

Prioritize assignments, coordinate workload, mentor, and communicate with the team.

Perform research and analysis for platform determination for project‑related implementation life cycle replacements.

Provide support for Active Directory.

Troubleshoot Windows and ESX server and OS issues.

Monitor and maintain security‑related events (anti‑virus, security patches, IAVA installs).

Document remediation of vulnerabilities reported by security scans.

Develop operating procedures for system administration activities including monitoring, tuning, backup/recovery, architecture design, and maintenance.

Apply Information Security/Information Assurance policies, including STIG and PCI requirements, and maintain documentation.

Perform regular system maintenance, backups, upgrades, and performance tuning.

Interface with Network Engineers, Storage Engineers, DBAs, and Application Teams.

Participate in project planning and take a leadership role to ensure timely completion of projects.

Provide technical knowledge and recommendations to staff; recommend server hardware capacity.

Provide installation support for new applications and software releases.

Serve as on‑call 24/7 support on a rotating basis.

Review DISA STIG and implement PCI standards on Windows and ESX servers.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required.

Minimum of 4 years experience in a Windows server team environment, including at least 3 of:

Large‑scale Windows Server administration supporting business applications.

Network Services administration with AD, DHCP, DNS, File/Print.

Windows server implementation and configuration.

Virtualization experience with ESXi/VCenter, HyperV, XEN, or other platforms.

Large WAN protocols and segmentation.

3 years general experience in administrative/technical work with systems information management.

Educational substitution: one year of related academic study above high school may substitute for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4‑year bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Information Systems, for 3 years general experience.

Certification:

Information Assurance certification (Security+, GIAC Security Essentials, etc.) current and valid.

Technical certification (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) current and valid.

Non‑certified candidates may be placed but must obtain certifications within 6 months; failure results in termination.

Security clearance: Must obtain a Secret clearance within 6 months of appointment; failure results in termination.

Designation: IT‑1 (Critical – Sensitive) requiring a favorable SSBI.

Benefits Pay Range: $80,893 to $102,677 based on experience.
