Position Overview The Structural Designer is responsible for creating, modifying, and reviewing structural design drawings and models to support engineering projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and other design professionals to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant structural layouts.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed structural drawings, 3D models, and construction documents using CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
Assist engineers in preparing design calculations, material specifications, and project documentation.
Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with building codes, industry standards, and project requirements.
Coordinate design revisions based on engineering feedback, client requirements, or field conditions.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including architecture, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
Support the creation of fabrication and installation drawings as needed.
Maintain organized project files and documentation throughout the design lifecycle.
Participate in project meetings and provide design input during planning and development phases.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related field.
Experience with structural drafting/design in an engineering or construction environment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other structural design software.
Understanding of structural materials (steel, concrete, wood) and construction methods.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with building codes and structural design standards.
Experience working with engineers on industrial, commercial, or residential structural projects.
Knowledge of 3D modeling and BIM workflows.
