Valbridge Property Advisors l Milwaukee, Florida, NY, United States
Palm Beach | Treasure Coast
Commercial Appraisal Analyst / Appraiser Trainee
Entry-Level | On-the-Job Training | 401(k) with Matching | Full-Time Opportunity
Description Valbridge Property Advisors | Palm Beach | Treasure Coast has an immediate opening for an Appraisal Analyst/Appraiser Trainee in our office. The position provides an excellent opportunity for experience and potential advancement within the commercial appraisal industry. Real property appraisers are researchers, problem solvers, and communicators. In the course of a typical assignment, the appraiser will inspect the “subject property” to determine its physical characteristics. The appraiser then analyzes the physical, economic, and legal characteristics of the property and the market in which it competes, using available published data and data developed from original research. The product of the appraisal analysis is typically a narrative appraisal report, generated with the assistance of specialized software based on Word and Excel. The appraisal process requires contact with property owners, buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, brokers, government officials, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals. Appraisers have advanced knowledge about real estate economics, markets and marketing, cost, and development. Successful appraisers are curious self-starters who enjoy solving problems. Accuracy, consistency, and good communication skills are requirements. Candidates with a background or study in real estate are desired. Appraisers develop the required knowledge and skills over time through on-the-job training and education. Trainees will take a series of classes and examinations, and develop valuation experience and expertise over time, culminating in a “General Appraiser” certification from the State of Washington. We encourage our professionals to reach beyond state certification to earn the MAI Designation of the Appraisal Institute; 6 of our 15 appraisers have earned this professional designation.
Job Brief The Appraisal Analyst/Appraiser Trainee has a unique opportunity to learn on the job and to develop relationships with local real estate professionals as they work toward developing their appraisal career. Applicants must be detail-oriented, analytical, and extremely organized. The position requires excellent communication skills, above-average math and writing skills, a professional demeanor, good telephone etiquette, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong computer skills are a must. This position is full-time and does not require an appraiser’s license; however, a trainee license is preferred.
