R2226## Job Description SummaryThe Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Leadership reports to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Leadership and supports the implementation of mission-centered student engagement and leadership development initiatives that promote student learning, belonging, and community at Saint Leo University. Grounded in the University’s Catholic Benedictine tradition, this role advances programs and experiences that foster personal development, responsible leadership, service, and respect for the dignity of all students. The Assistant Director plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and execution of engagement initiatives, leadership programs, and student organization support, contributing to a vibrant campus environment that encourages involvement, ethical leadership, and shared responsibility.## Job Description**DUTIES AND TASKS:*** Coordinate and implement student engagement and leadership development programs aligned with Saint Leo University’s Catholic Benedictine mission and core values* Support leadership development initiatives that promote ethical decision-making, civic responsibility, service, and personal growth among students* Advise student organizations and student leaders, supporting effective governance, event planning, and organizational development* Assist with planning and execution of campus-wide events, leadership workshops, retreats, and co-curricular learning experiences* Support Fraternity and Sorority Life initiatives as assigned, including chapter programming, leadership development, and community-building efforts* Assist with New Student Orientation and student transition initiatives that introduce students to engagement opportunities and institutional values* Support assessment, data collection, and reporting related to student engagement, leadership development, and program outcomes* Assist with policy implementation, compliance, and risk management for student organizations and engagement activities* Support training and supervision of student employees, peer leaders, and volunteers as assigned* Assist with departmental communication, outreach, and marketing efforts related to engagement and leadership initiatives* Promote inclusive practices that ensure equitable access to engagement and leadership opportunities for all students* Collaborate with campus partners including campus ministry, academic affairs, athletics, and student conduct to support student success and leadership development* Provide operational support including event logistics, space coordination, vendor communication, and budget tracking* Model professionalism, ethical leadership, emotional intelligence, and exceptional customer service in all interactions* Participate in evening and weekend responsibilities as required to support student engagement activities* Serve on departmental or divisional committees as assigned* Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Division of Student Affairs and institutional priorities**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:*** Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.* Knowledge of higher education goals and trends.* Ability to think creatively and innovatively.* Ability to prioritize work, manage time, and multitask appropriately.* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.* Ability to function autonomously as well as a member of a team.* Ability to manage excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication in a team environment.* Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.* Position requires late night and weekend hours.**PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*** 1-3 years of experience in Student Activities and/or programming.* Demonstrated ability to develop creative and appealing co-curricular programs.**ENVIRONMENT:**The work environment characteristics described here are a representation of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
