Public Relations Specialist

The Communications Specialist bridges internal and external communications by curating and narrating MLH's story from and for our Associates and key stakeholders and working with subject matter experts on content and plans that engage our target audiences. Writes, edits and coordinates communications for both internal and external audiences. Leverages new technologies and modern media to enhance our impact and broaden our reach in the community. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do

Drafts compelling content for newsletters, announcements, employee messages and internal and external websites.

Assists Marketing, Communications & Web team with internal and external communications and collaborates with subject matter experts to identify stories that advance our strategic priorities, promote our Power of One culture, enhance our reputation and image and support brand growth.

Curates engaging experiences, such as town halls, leadership summits or employee, media and community events.

Liaises with company departments and events team for promotional materials, signage, or marketing-owned equipment.

Builds strong working relationships with key audiences and stakeholders to accomplish marketing, communications and system initiatives.

Manages the development and implementation of communications plans and serves as project lead as needed.

Establishes and maintains a consistent process for monitoring engagement and information flow across departments: MOLLI usage, newsletter readership, viewership, tone, message penetration and reach.

Develops relationships with local media and industry media, community organizations and strategic partners (Internal & External) to advance our story and key initiatives.

Supports community engagement efforts and employee campaigns.

Supports marketing and communications initiatives to grow our key service lines and position leaders, physicians and clinicians as subject matter experts.

Participates in the continued advancement of Methodist Le Bonheur messaging to connect with target audiences.

Adapts content for various digital formats and presentation styles.

Leverages data and analytics to measure progress and drive results.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Formal Training Requirements

Required - Bachelor's Degree in Communications

Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Journalism

Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Marketing

Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations

Work Experience Requirements

Required - Business, marketing, or communications 3-5 years

Preferred - Media relations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Exceptional storyteller with strong written and verbal communications skills

Self-starter who is well organized, skilled at meeting tight deadlines and comfortable with shifting priorities and adapting to change.

Conceptual knowledge of public relations, media and employee communications strategies.

Self-directed with ability to collaborate with a team or work independently to advance the goals of the organization.

Demonstrated ability and experience leveraging both traditional, digital, new media and emerging technologies

Knowledge in producing well-written, creative copy with a strong background in AP style

Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop solutions and innovative ideas.

Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Proficient knowledge and skills with social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

Supervision Provided by this Position

There are no official supervisory responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.

Must have good balance and coordination.

The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.

The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.

The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
