Global Trade Compliance Specialist – Role This role executes Amazon Leo's security-focused trade compliance program by upholding export control regulations, managing access control validations, and mitigating sanctions and regulatory risk across global operations. It requires deep functional expertise at the intersection of security policy and trade law, ensuring that personnel, systems, and financial transactions meet U.S. and international regulatory requirements with accuracy and consistency.
Key Job Responsibilities
Security & Export Control Enforcement
Conduct national status validations to enforce export control-based access restrictions to LEO systems and facilities.
Identify and remediate compliance gaps monitoring flagged issues, including non‑US auto‑population risks, Business Partner access issues, manual entry errors, and unregulated permission teams.
Manage GTC post entry audit invoicing, payments, and controllership functions, ensuring financial accuracy and regulatory alignment across global trade transactions.
Serve as subject matter expert on export control compliance mechanisms, data collection, and regulatory reporting.
Audit & Risk Management
Execute compliance audits against export control, customs, and sanctions requirements; develop corrective action plans with measurable outcomes.
Analyze audit findings to identify risk patterns and elevate systemic issues with actionable recommendations.
Maintain audit documentation and tracking systems to ensure timely gap resolution.
Develop and maintain SOPs for trade compliance audit processes.
Regulatory Operations
Monitor regulatory changes (EAR, ITAR, OFAC) and assess operational impact; implement process updates within defined scope.
Partner with Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain to operationalize compliance controls.
Support system implementations to improve compliance automation and screening efficiency.
Payments & Financial Controls
Review international payments for sanctions and export control compliance; conduct enhanced due diligence on high‑risk transactions.
Investigate and resolve payment holds; coordinate with Finance to implement screening mechanisms.
Maintain documentation supporting payment compliance decisions for audit purposes.
A Day in the Life As a Leo Global Trade Compliance Specialist, you will be an individual contributor accountable for optimizing cross‑team processes that improve compliance mechanisms and manage cross‑functional processes. You will consult with key stakeholders to drive alignment at both the tactical and strategic level, working closely with Legal, Tax, Procurement, Supply Chain teams, and a variety of external Amazon partners to ensure compliance and risk management at scale.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or a related technical or quantitative field.
3+ years in trade compliance, export controls, or regulatory enforcement.
Solid working knowledge of EAR, ITAR, and OFAC sanctions; experience with access control or security compliance programs a plus.
Demonstrated experience executing compliance audits and driving corrective action to closure.
Proficiency with trade compliance systems, screening tools, and data monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk).
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in regulatory compliance management with government agencies.
Experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis, or delivering results for large, cross‑functional initiatives/projects.
Experience in aerospace, defense, or technology industries with export‑controlled products or personnel.
