Acceptable Experience And Education A high school diploma or equivalent; courses in customer service desired; with a minimum of one (1) year experience scheduling, setting up and taking down events, and one (1) year experience in cashiering, or similar office experience.

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certificates, Licenses, And Other Requirements Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso.

In order to access into the County’s network and systems, a personal smart device is required by the hire start date.

Typical Duties Essential Duties

Assists with venues in which events will be held (internal and external) and are set up in a timely manner with the correct furniture, equipment, as stipulated by clients;

Handles customer service in a professional and effective manner; deals with unruly individuals and refuses admittance to persons without the appropriate tickets or passes; may call security if necessary;

Greets customers entering the establishment in a friendly manner;

Assists with equipment, including audio visual, tables and chairs, lights and other fixtures and fittings are correctly positioned, in good working order, and in a clean and well‑maintained condition;

Ensures clients are greeted and briefed in a friendly, professional manner and that clients are supported throughout their event including attention to changing or last‑minute requirements;

Sets‑up and tears down of events: tasks may include cones, barricade, signage, tents, tables, chairs, staging;

Delivers services to customers and client’s satisfaction;

Receives and reports feedback from customers and clients to manager and actively make efforts to address any issues, seeking to identify continuous improvement opportunities wherever possible;

Communicates where applicable by way of email and telephone with customers for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of project requests;

Ensures that all product and equipment is stored and used in a safe and secure manner and that inventories are checked on regular intervals as agreed and directed;

Inspects equipment on a regular basis, advising on maintenance and repair to ensure service continuity to agreed standards;

Ensures policies and procedures are followed;

Responds to inquiries and complaints from the general public; relays information on procedures or policies; maintains order and ensures adherence to safety rules;

Creates/updates signs alerting patrons of policies and procedures;

Investigates workplace hazards and ensures corrective actions are reported;

Ensures areas of responsibility comply with injury management policies and procedures;

Provides input on reports of operational achievements and activities as required;

Meets with management to identify and resolve problems;

Assists the public with inquiries and handles difficult customers and non‑routine problems;

Maintains work area to ensure it remains clean and orderly; sweeps, cleans, picks up trash;

Maintains restrooms in a clean and sanitary manner;

Performs data entry, carries out mail runs, assists with inventory, and opens or closes the establishment;

Attends and participates in meetings, training and information sessions;

Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field;

Substitutes, if assigned, for immediate supervisor or coworkers during temporary absences by performing delegated duties sufficient to maintain continuity of normal operations;

Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and

Creates a high‑quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.

Other Important Duties Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Drives to other locations within the County.

May work weekends and holidays.

As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor.

Job Summary The Recreation Specialist under general direction, assists in the coordination of activities and facilities. This position is responsible for: coordinating client requirements; communicating effectively with the coordinator to ensure event needs and Customer and Client satisfaction of the highest standard to include day to day cashiering duties, and answer customer question and provide information on procedures and policies.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:

County personnel policies and procedures; office operations; first aid; inventory techniques; cleaning equipment and chemicals; maintaining equipment and cleaning materials; the principles and practices of effective customer service; Principles and practices of modern office administration; English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling; techniques for effective interpersonal communications; methods and computer equipment to include Windows and Microsoft based products.

Skill/Ability to:

learn the organization, procedures and operating details of the county department to which assigned; be tactful and diplomatic in handling informational matters and dealing with the public; perform data entry; understand and carry out both oral and written directions, perform simple mathematical calculations; prepare clear and concise reports; be able to execute work both independently and as a team member; utilize cleaning chemicals applying safety standards to prevent hazards; work expeditiously and accurately under pressure; operate personal computer using standard office operating software and general office equipment; excel spreadsheets; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; be dependable; and establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work; Pass a Criminal Background Check; Bilingual (English‑Spanish) preferred;

Other: Has frequent contact with vendors, local organizations, user groups, general public and other county employees

Vacation Accruals are credited on a biweekly basis and available for use as it is accrued after 6 months of continuous service. Year to year carry‑over accruals are limited to twice the employee’s annual rate. Part‑time employees accrue vacation at half the rate of full‑time employees.

10 days (1 through less than 5 years of service)

15 days (5 through less than 15 years of service)

20 days (15 years of service or over)

Sick Leave Accruals are credited on a biweekly basis and available for use as it is accrued after 3 months of full time service. Employees accrue 15 days of sick leave per year.

Miscellaneous Paid Leaves Military Leave – 15 days of paid leave per fiscal year for active military service

Bereavement Leave – 3 days of paid leave for the death of an immediate family members and 4 hours for other family members and friends.

Retirement Retirement benefits are provided by the Texas County and District Retirement Fund (TCDRS). Regular employees become a member of TCDRS upon hire. All regular employees are required to contribute 7% to the retirement fund and the County matches 250% upon eligible retirements.

Deferred Compensation Employees may defer earnings, on a pre‑tax basis, into a 457 deferred compensation program. This is an optional program.

Life Insurance Full‑time County employees are provided a basic life insurance benefit of $10,000 life insurance at no cost. Supplemental coverage is available for additional fees.

Long‑term Disability The Long‑Term disability program provides 60% of the employees' income when the employee becomes disabled because of an illness, injury or accident for a period above 90 days.

Short‑term Disability The Short‑Term disability program provides 60% of the employees' income when the employee becomes disabled because of an illness, injury or accident for a period shorter than 90 days.

Retiree Health Insurance Employees who retire from the County are eligible to continue Health Insurance at the rate set by the El Paso County Risk Pool Board.

Employee Assistance Program Employees are enrolled in an Employee Assistance Program that provides a variety of counseling services.

Section 125 Medical & Dependent Care Program The section 125 program is optional for employees and provides a method to pay medical and dependent care expenses on a pre‑tax basis.

Healthy Lifestyle Reimbursement Reimbursement of $15 per month for 6 months of continuous gym usage.

Educational Assistance Program (EdAP) Reimbursement up to $2000 per calendar year for eligible education expenses.

Employee Fitness and Wellness Center The Employee Fitness and Wellness Center opened in October 2021 at the County Courthouse. The cost is $5 per employee per month.
