The Role
The Role
The Market Director – Data Centers is a senior leadership role responsible for driving growth, client relationships, and delivery excellence within Stratus’ data center and mission-critical infrastructure market. This individual operates as a seller-doer, accountable for both revenue generation and successful execution of complex, high-value projects. The Director will lead multi-disciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle—from feasibility studies and design through construction administration and commissioning—while building Stratus’ presence as a trusted partner to hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise clients.
Responsibilities Lead the growth of Stratus’ data center / mission-critical practice, including market strategy, client targeting, and client engagement.
Identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities, lead proposals, interviews, and contract negotiations.
Represent Stratus in industry forums, conferences, and client engagements to build brand presence.
Collaborate with executive leadership to define revenue targets, pipeline strategy, and market positioning.
Provide oversight of data center project and programs.
Drive performance across scope, schedule, budget, and quality on all data center projects.
Establish fee strategies, staffing plans, and utilization targets across projects.
Monitor project financials and intervene to mitigate risk and protect profitability.
Build and lead high-performing data center design and project management teams.
Mentor Project Managers and technical staff to develop next level leaders.
Support recruiting and workforce planning aligned with market growth.
Establish best practices for data center delivery, technical coordination, and client engagement.
Provide leadership in data center design and construction practices, including:
Electrical distribution systems (MV/LV, redundancy, resiliency)
Mechanical systems (cooling plants, liquid cooling, airflow strategies)
Site infrastructure and utility coordination
Maintain awareness and develop strategic plans for emerging trends:
AI / high-density compute
Energy and sustainability strategies
Modular and prefabricated
Onsite generation
Required
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field
10+ years of experience in engineering, construction, or program management
Proven experience delivering data center or mission-critical projects.
Demonstrated success in client development and business growth.
Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams and complex programs.
Preferred Experience with hyperscale data center clients and developers
Professional certifications (PE, PMP, RA, ATD, CxA)
Experience with central plant systems and high-density compute environments.
