Human Resources Business Partner

The HR Business Partner supports leaders across Canada and the United States by aligning people strategies with business objectives. This role provides strategic advice, hands‑on HR support, and data‑driven insights to strengthen talent, engagement, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
Position Responsibilities Strategic Partnership
Partner with leaders on workforce planning, talent development, succession, and engagement.
Serve as a change agent, guiding leaders through organizational transitions.
Implement global HR programs consistently across Canada and the US.
Manager & Employee Coaching
Coach managers on performance, feedback, development, and complex people issues.
Strengthen team culture, morale, inclusion, and productivity across dispersed teams.
Talent, Development & Engagement
In partnership with Talent Management Center of Excellence, support HR programs including performance, calibration, compensation, talent reviews, and development planning.
Drive inclusive talent practices and equitable career growth.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Manage complex Employee Relations issues; ensure consistent, compliant processes.
Maintain knowledge of Canadian provincial and US federal/state employment laws.
Guide managers through leave, accommodation, and return‑to‑work processes.
HR Operations & Programs
Oversee key lifecycle processes (onboarding, job changes, off‑boarding).
Guide on payroll and benefits in partnerships with COEs.
Partner with Talent Acquisition on hiring strategies.
Lead and support the development, revision, and harmonization of Canadian HR policies and procedures across multiple provinces.
Data, Insights & Reporting
Analyze HR data trends and provide insights on turnover, DEI, performance, and engagement.
Provide leaders with actionable people metrics.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field.
5-8+ years in relevant areas.
Experience supporting employees across multiple Canadian provinces and U.S. states.
Expertise in employee relations and coaching.
Strong communication, influencing, and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in engineering/architectural consulting.
HRIS proficiency.
Nice to have: French language skills.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods for computer work.
Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment
Must have reliable transportation.
Will primarily work in an IPS or home office assignment.
Must adhere to office safety guidelines.
Travel
This position may have travel up to 10% or as required, including periodic visits to U.S. locations and Canadian offices (including British Columbia).
