Job Summary – Technical Writer
Position: Technical Writer (Hybrid, Santa Fe, NM)
Duration: 6-month contract
Summary Of Responsibilities
Review and assess existing technical and business documentation for gaps, inconsistencies, and improvements
Reorganize and standardize documentation for clarity and easy navigation
Translate technical system behavior and developer knowledge into clear, usable documentation
Create and update core application workflow and system behavior documentation
Produce developer‑focused documentation, including system operation and change management guidance
Document QA workflows, test considerations, and expected system outcomes
Enhance clarity and usability of technical artifacts such as statements of work, architecture, and testing documents
Develop and maintain documentation standards, templates, and best practices
Assist with onboarding and knowledge transfer for new team members
Required Skills & Qualifications
3–6 years of technical writing experience
Experience working with incomplete, inconsistent, or evolving documentation
Strong ability to structure and organize complex technical information
Excellent interviewing and information‑gathering skills with technical staff
Comfortable working in dynamic, changing environments
Exceptional written communication skills focused on clarity and usability
Preferred Qualifications
Experience documenting web applications or LAMP‑based systems
Familiarity with developer wikis, knowledge bases, or internal documentation tools
Exposure to QA/testing documentation
Ability to read PHP or JavaScript code
Proficiency with diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart)
Experience with application modernization or migration projects
